Cursing.

Cursing might not seem like a huge deal.  "They're just words. What's wrong with it?" you might think. Well, cursing is a bigger deal than you might think. It can turn into a bad habit that will affect you later in life. It can give people the wrong impression about you, and overall, it is just not acceptable.

I think that one reason teens curse is they think it makes them more mature.  They are influenced by their friends. If a respected peer curses they will think it's "cool" or acceptable to curse too.  Another reason for teens to curse is to have an outlet for their anger.  Many teens do not have the experience to express their emotions in a socially acceptable manner, or, toward the actual object of their anger.  Cursing relieves some of the stress that teens feel and allows expression of angry feelings.

But, let's be blunt.  Curse words are not acceptable, in my opinion. If these words were okay to use in everyday language, they would be a part of everyday language and not called curses or "bad" wordsCursing is not a part of everyday language and will reflect very badly on you personally.

As for being a valid expression of anger, there are many other ways to relieve anger.   Get a stress ball, or try counting backwards from ten, talk about it with someone, take a hot shower or bubble bath.  Or, explain why you are angry to the person you are angry with,or to a good friend who can help you to sort out your feelings and move on.   You can even express anger in your personal diary which is another way to get those feelings out of your system.  However, cursing is not the answer.

Cursing  is just outright disrespectful, and shows you have no self control. Cursing can turn into a habit if it is not stopped in its tracks. You never know who will hear your foul language.  And, once cursing becomes a bad habit, bad words can slip out at the most embarrassing times.  Like in front of a possible employer, your college professor, or even a person in the grocery. All of these people would get a very bad impression of you. Cursing does not show a person to be mature; all it does is show they have a foul mouth.

Unfortunately, our society also shows teens, its okay to curse. With shows like " Dance your ___ off" and online abbreviations such as " LMAO, WTF, and FML", it is all too easy to curse. Of course it is up to your own discretion whether you decide to curse, or you choose to break away from the cookie cutter teenager mold, and find better ways to express yourself than through cursing. Many teens have been called
"immature" (me being one of them!) for refusing to say a curse word. However, maybe we are more mature because we do not conform, and we set our own rules for behavior.  Leaders and not followers!

Thank you so much for reading this! :)

By the way, I just thought I would throw this in, I don't need negative comments spamming my blog. If you don't agree with what I am saying, do me a HUGE favor, and keep it to yourself. Not everyone is going to like everything I say, I am aware of that, but I am trying to make this environment as wholesome, and as clean as I can. So please no nasty comments.
