13-Jan, stands for thirteen is just a number. The idea behind 13-Jan is to encourage teens and tweens to be themselves, and to shed the stereotypical images of today's youth. Our message is to be unique, and stand out from the crowd. Be yourself, and don't ever change who you are. You are beautiful, just the way you are.

Jealousy...
Jealousy happens to the best of us. The best thing to do about jealousy, is to know what kind your are dealing with.
The " I want what someone else has:" This is a very common type of jealousy. You might feel sad that you don't have it, or even mad that they do. This type of jealousy is understandable, but can only lead to continuous feelings of unhappiness, and emptiness. That's because, there will always be someone who has something you may want, and can't have at the moment. There are a number of ways to change your thinking so that over time, you are less likely to be bothered by it.
First, consider to yourself, do they need it more than you do right now? Maybe your're jealous because your sister got a new bike, but maybe your sister needed a new bike because she outgrew her old one, while you still have a perfectly good bike.
Second, count your blessings! If you live life wanting what other people have, you will never be happy. I can guarantee, that you can ask anybody, even adults, if they want what someone else has. Chances are, they would say " Yes!" Maybe, Oprah Winfrey's billions, or Jay Leno's car collection! The bottom line, if you spend time wanting what other people have, then you have wasted a few minutes that could have been spent appreciating what you do have.
The " My friend is great at EVERYTHING:" Your friend is an awesome singer, dancer, guitarist, and she has never received a grade lower than a B. First off, nobody is great at everything. That is impossible. There are so many sports and hobbies in the world, that there is not a single person who can be good at every single one of them. Which also goes for you! Just because you aren't the best at one thing doesn't mean you aren't great at another! There are so many different things you could try out! There's: sewing, drawing, swimming, soccer, baseball, dancing, film making, piano, writing... I could go on forever! Just remember, being good at something takes practice, and dedication. Nobody is great at something the first time they try it. Take your time, and find your own unique talents, and spend more time pursuing them. Just don't get discouraged! Micheal Jordan didn't make the team in high school, but he didn't give up. He practiced, and tried again the next semester, and he made it. Never feel you aren't good enough, or that someone is above you. You can be anything you want to be if you try hard enough. The time and energy spent being jealous, could be spent perfecting your own talent.
